This multinational band is the creative brainchild of bassist and bandleader Stefan Redtenbacher who is currently writing the material for their fifth album ‘The Cooker’ due in 2010. Enver Izmailov Quartet

Guitarist Enver Izmailov is one of the most prominent figures in the Eastern European jazz combining a wide variety of cultural influences and genres – classical, jazz, world music as well as Mediterranean and Oriental folklore spiced with astonishing virtuosity. Acknowledged as one of the co-inventors of the jazz guitar tapping technique he performed countless festivals and solo concerts in Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Germany, Norway, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and other countries all over the world. His extensive touring has resulted into numerous awards and successful collaborations, most recent of which took place in Kiev, Ukraine where he performed with a 10-time Grammy winning singer and composer Bobby McFerrin. Strigalev/Ramm Quartet

Virtuosic improvisation, harmonic inventiveness, excellent swing and a clear melodic lines typical of Russian culture – this all distinguishes the band as well as realizes the previously unexplored potential between the St. Petersburg and London jazz sounds. The group’s latest album “Off the Cut” was released on Baltic Music label and had a great response from both critics and the audience. A.M. Promotions tie up with PizzaExpress Jazz CLub

10 Jan 2010 – The new initiative launched by A.M. Promotions in cooperation with Pizza Express presents the concerts of some of the most original and distinctive jazz artists from the continental Europe. During this year’s spring and summer seasons the series will explore the jazz influences of Eastern and Central Europe and will be featuring a number of truly mesmerising performances of some unique figures in modern jazz.

The series aims to broaden the horizons of the London jazz scene with the introduction of the musicians who are already established and popular in many countries of Europe and the world. Varied from the experimental approach of Strigalev/Ramm Quartet to the virtuosic tapping passages of legendary Enver Izmailov these showcases offer a unique chance to experience the diversity of multicultural influences and simply enjoy music of a highest quality at the world famous PizzaExpress Jazz Club.
